If not, it might take a while longer, but it really doesn’t take that much time.

There are special methods that these PDR technicians get at the dents and dings from the inside of the vehicle, and then what they do is basically massage the dent or ding out of the car. Steps to Get Rid Of Auto Dents In The Comforts Of Your Own Garage

paintless dent removal

One of the most terrible sights a car owner will spot is dents on his car. It does not matter how the dents got there, what matters is the quicker they disappear the better for the driver.

Getting your car into your local body shop for dent removal can be an expensive thing. Take heart in knowing that this is not the only option available. There are a few ways a car owner can get rid of the dents in the privacy of a personal garage. Some dents are unable to be repaired by a non-professional. In these situations, the only option is to go to the local auto body shop.

For the car dents that can be repaired, start by visiting a car repair retail shop. Dent removal kits take up a huge amount of space on store shelves. Every dent removal kit includes all the tools needed for the general do-it-yourself amateur car repair hobbyist.

In lieu of utilizing a drill to work on car dents, many of the DIY removal kits opt for suction cups. Depending on the kind of dent removal kit, any relative item to a suction cup may be used instead of a drill.

To get started, locate a dolly tool that is used for flattening and reshaping of metal. Add to this a metalworking hammer and the dent removal kit.

Pinpoint the center of the dent. Place the suction cup or similar tool on this spot. For additional removal strength, utilize the glue stick that is found in most dent removal kits. Attach a handle to the suction cup for added leverage in pulling the dent outward.

Gently start to pull the suction cup and attached handle away from the center of the dent. This will cause the dent to flatten out. Next, take the metalworking hammer to tap the front side of the dent. Keep the dolly firmly planted against the back portion of the dent. For this, going under the car exterior or through the car hood may be necessary.

Get a medium grit disk attached to a drill and strip the paint down to the metal. Create a section of at least one inch radius around the dent. Fill this area with a body filler product. When this part has dried, wrap a piece of sandpaper around a wood block and sand it. Start using a 36 grit paper and finish with a 120 grit paper.

With the area now sanded, apply 6 coats of auto designed primer. Let each layer dry before applying the next coat. Sand the area one more time using a 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper application. This process gets rid of any non-visible scratches on the dent surface.

A fair number auto body shops focus on mobile dent removal. They utilize the paintless dent removal approach bringing the auto body shop to the customer whether it be at home, at work or at play. Weather conditions are the only factor that can affect this convenient auto body repair process. Most paintless dent removal jobs can be completed within an hour. In certainrare occasions however, dent removal repair can only be completed in the local auto body shop.

My Experience With The Paintless Dent Removal technique

paintless dent removal

Car dents are not my cup of tea by any means. Car dents decrease from the worth of your car, whether it be monetarily or aesthetically. In fact I was totally freaked out when I saw the most recent dent in my car.  For one thing for sure, car dents—I care how small, will make the car to look like trash and for another—it is not like I have got lots of money to spare.

Car dent repair can be expensive and I wasn’t very sure that I could afford to have my car fixed, but I wouldn’t want to drive around in a dented car either.  Car dents have a way of multiplying.

I was hunting around for a dent repair shop and calling to get quotes when I found Dent Masters.  Browsing through the website I was delighted by two things:

1) that their dent removal process was explained very comprehensively on their  website and

2) that they got one of their technicians come over to my house and repair the dent for me.  Who doesn’t love a business that comes to you instead of having you to go to them?

Do I even need to say that I hired them?

This is how the dent removal method works. Dent Masters employs a process known as Paintless Dent Removal, or PDR. It is a technique whereby the dents are repaired without using tools that require the car to be touched up or refinished. The people at Dent Master use specialized tools to work on the dent until the dent is completely gone.

Paintless dent removal used to be limited to only small dents but now it can be used to work with larger dents as well as including dents that would usually need some major body work to repair. The technicians can even repair damage that are  caused by hailstones.

The Dent Master technician that came to my home was very  friendly and talked to me the entire way through the process and when he was done with his work (which did not take nearly as long as I thought it would) my car looked like it had never been dented at all! I had feared that there might be some residual damage—a couple of small scratches in the paint from the tools for example, but there was none!

After knowing a little more on Dent Masters, I saw that their company has in existence for more than thirty  years and it doesn’t surprise. Once you witness how this technique works, you wouldn’t thinking of taking your car back to a body shop ever again. Rather, you will make Dent Masters your first option.
