The Best Motorcycle Helmet Isn’t a Myth, It’s Just Not What You Think…

Folks frequently wonder about the best motorcycle helmet, especially in the case of them being beginner riders.  It’s a good question, because in saying that we demand the best motorcycle helmet, we’re simply stating we need the best achievable protection for the head.  But, what this question doesn’t see is that motorcycle helmets have too high a number of variables (similar, guess what, to our heads!) for a “one size fits all” answer.  The best motorcycle helmet for me may not be the best for you.

So um, you say, where then does one start?  Well, there are a variety of places to begin, but here I’ll discuss how head shape can instruct your path to the best motorcycle helmet.

Similar to the many shapes of heads we’ve all got, producers of the best motorcycle helmets have made a variety of choices about the inner shape of their helmets.  Don’t you recall those square shapes you tried to shove in the round holes as a child?  So one would not attempt to squeeze a square head into an oval motorcycle helmet, right?  (fyi: if you’ve got a square head sitting on those shoulders, I think your problems may be more than I can rescue here.)

Then where do we begin?  Well the initial step is to figure out what the shape of YOUR noggin is first, before thinking about the helmet.  We’ve got five head shapes: oval, round, earth, egg, and reverse egg.

In a word: the shapes are what they sound like (all observing a head from the front): round appears circular (most common among Asians), oval is longer vertically than horizontally (most common by far among caucasians), earth is wider than it is tall, egg is broader at the top, and reverse egg is broader toward the jaw.  I’m unsure of the demographic distributions of all these shapes, but the gist of it remains straightforward: the best motorcycle helmet for someone will take into account the wide variety of head shapes people have as good ol’ homo sapiens.

Continuing on then, to figure out the best motorcycle helmet for you, you’ve got to match the inner shape of a helmet with the outer shape of your head.  Unfortunately, you might find this challenging, because many motorcycle helmet brands don’t specify internal shape.

You have two choices: a bunch of reading, or lots of trying on.

If you’re someone comfortable with researching and buying things over the internet, you’d be surprised at just how much data you can get on all the various motorcycle helmet brands and which manufacturers tend to go best with which head shapes.  I personally purchased my own motorcycle helmet entirely online, and it fits great.  The only thing is you need to be fine with possibly sending it back though if the helmet doesn’t fit quite right, so examine the online retailer you’re considering using to buy your motorcycle helmet to ensure they’ve got an easy, consumer-friendly return policy in case there’s an issue.

The alternative is the good ‘ol brick-and-mortar genuine store option.  You locate a sizeable motorcycle helmet outlet, retailer, store, whatever and then begin donning helmets.  In this case, as in all others, it still helps if you’ve done your due diligence.  Then you’ll be primed and ready to tell a sales person what shape motorcycle helmet you need, and if the person helping you is knowledgeable they should hopefully be able to point you in the right direction.

In future posts I’ll discuss, you guessed it: size.  Which is the next factor you need to understand to find your very own, personal, best motorcycle helmet to ride off with confidence!

Cheap Old Cars for Sale – Government Seized Car Auctions

If you are in a tight budget you might want to consider buying cheap old cars for sale, either online or from used car dealers. There are also many old cars being sold through auction, which is one of the best ways in getting cars at a greatly reduced price.

Most online car auctions will feature both old and later models, and you expect that most bidders will aggressively contest for the later models driving the price high.

The good news however, most old cars will be sold at a very cheap price to speed up their disposal.

What you must need to remember though is to make sure that parts are still available in the market for replacement and maintenance purposes. This is to ensure that you will be able to enjoy your car and improve its appearance as well as its performance, especially if you know something about mechanics.

Take the time to inspect in detail all the aspect of the car that you are interested in, and never do it in a hurry. Test drive to get a feel of the car performs, and if you´re not keen in car engines and all its jargon, it would be best to bring along someone who has some knowledge to help you in your inspection.

You can buy cheap old cars either directly from owners, car dealers or auction houses. The choice is yours, although the pertinent details remain the same. Make sure that registration papers are complete as well as safety standards and other documents included in the purchasing of vehicles.

Government seized car auctions is one good way to buy used cheap cars. Not many people know you can buy cars from the government and this helps to keep the bidding price low. Since the cars need money to be maintained and stored, the government agencies are more than willing to sell these seized cars at cheap prices.

You can often find used seized cars that are still brand new, less than a year old being sold for more than 90% off the retail market value.

If you are looking to buy cheap seized cars from government auto auctions, check out gov auctions. Check out my Gov Auctions review and learn how to buy seized cars at 90% off retail prices.
